Good morning ladies and gentlemen and thank you again for the opportunity to showcase our investment. I will not bore you with lots of numbers, but I have to say a few numbers about our investment, because this forum is about investments.
And if I can kick off this presentation. This is just to remind you of what we have invested so far, we have invested 1.2 billion euros, that is enough front payment to the state, not really an investment, it is more and investment into the economy, into the state treasury. But part of our mission is also to invest into infrastructure and this is airport infrastructure.
We are now, our capex program in the first four years it is 450 million euros, we are about 2/3 through the program, and I will show you a few pictures later on, to explain where we are right now with our mission to rebuild and to rehabilitated our 14 airports.
In terms of the ongoing contribution we pay 23 million euros every year to the Greek state and also 1 euro per passenger, this is used to fund infrastructure and air traffic control and other public sector missions.
Once we’ve done with our program we will pay 28.5% of EBITDA to the Greek state. That is an important figure to keep in mind because our annual contribution, starting the year 2022 will be around 100 million euros every year to the Greek state. And that is on top of our investment requirements.
I am rushing you through these figures, because you’ve probably seen them, you have heard them before.
An important figure to keep in mind from this chart is really two numbers. It is 700 direct jobs that we have created since we started 3 years ago, actually 4 years we started building up a company of 700 direct jobs, people that are working for Fraport Greece.
And throughout the community of our airports we have 14,000 people working. How do we count this? We look at the number of ID cards that we issue and the people that actually are coming and work at the airports.
This is where we are today. We are 2/3 through our investment program. We have delivered three airports last year, we have delivered Aktio and Skiathos already this year, and acknowledging the extremely hard word of our partners, of our construction partner INTRAKAT we will be ready to put Mytilini airport into operation in 5 days from now.
Just as a reminder of how the Greek aviation industry is structured, Greece has seen last year 64 million passengers, 24 million passengers have been handled by Athens International Airport, Fraport Greece accounts for 30 million passengers, and the rest are handled by the remaining airports in Greece, the biggest one being Heraklion with about 8 million and the other 23 airports that you have certainly heard about lately.
This was an incredible picture because it shows the resilience and the absolute success story of Greek tourism over the last decade. It has been flat, passenger number at our airports have been flat, around 70-80, until the year 2012. For 5 years there was literally no growth.
And then in 2012, in the middle of the crisis, suddenly traffic started to skyrocket. And this actually hit an infrastructure that was never built to do this.
So our challenge was not only to rebuilt the airports but also to manage and to operate through this massive increase of traffic.
So now enough with the charts. This is where we stand at Chania. Chania was the airport we first delivered. It has already been put into operation last year, brand new terminal. Kavala airport was also delivered last year. It is a completely new experience.
The infrastructure is basically the same but the way the passenger flow and the passenger process work is very different.
The same in Zakynthos where we have dramatically changed the way the airport is used and the way passenger flow through the terminal.
Aktion airport, I am going to Aktion tomorrow, it is already done and delivered, same as Skiathos.
Samos airport will be ready later in the year. And I’ve mentioned already Mytilini airport, where we have built a brand new terminal in a little over a year. And maybe throughout the Q&As later we have a chance to talk about Mytilini because there are some very interesting lessons about that.
We will also deliver Rodos airport later in the year. And we are just finalizing the second part of the new terminal in Kefalonia airport.
Same thing is happening in Corfu and in Kos, where in Kos, actually, we’ve built a completely new terminal and we are knocking down the old one.
Mykonos airport, I have a nice video, if we have time I would like to show the video for Mykonos airport what it would look like in the future. And Santorini will also be completely rehabilitated.
And of course our flagship Thessaloniki where we are doubling the floor space, we are actually doubling the amount of space available rebuilding a brand new terminal, we are connecting it to the old one and we are refurbishing, once the new terminal is ready we will refurbishing the old one.
So after less than 4 years we will have completely new updated, upgraded infrastructure in place and that is how the numbers, that you saw earlier, the 400 million, translate into real assets and into real convenience and to better quality and service for passengers.
I think I leave that to Q&A and if there is a little time at the end I would really love to show the video.
Thank you very much.
